Southwell Transition to Practice Nurse Residency Program
The Transition to Practice Nurse Residency Program supports new nurse graduates transition from advanced beginner nurse to competent professional nurses with a focus on building critical thinking and professional practice by integrating evidence-based practice and nursing research to improve nursing practice and patient outcomes.
PROGRAM DETAILS
- 12- month program
- Two cohorts per year
- One 4-hour seminar each month (with exception of first month)
- Clinical reflection time that allows nurse residents to share experiences amongst peers
- An evidence-based initiative that is completed by each nurse resident to improve a workflow process and patient care delivery
PROGRAM GOALS
- Strengthening clinical reasoning skills
- Nurse empowerment
- Increase Nurse Retention
ELIGIBILITY
- Graduated from an accredited RN/LPN program
- Less than one year of nursing experience
All new hires that fit the stated criteria are required to go through the program.
